Why Archery??

Why did you take up archery? What makes it attractive?
I guess I have to start the ball rolling in this forum with something simple.
I'm an avid fan of shooting sports. I love to shoot. It doesn't matter whether its air rifle or air pistol, M-16s or pistols. There is always this magical feeling whenever I launch a projectile off at the target. I wish I could describe how that feels with words, but I really can't.
I took up archery by accident when I enrolled in a local institution that did not have an active air rifle club. I was rather disappointed at first, until I saw the archery club. The shooter in me figured that, the next best thing to air rifle was archery. Before I knew it, I was hooked to the sport.
I guess one main attraction to archery is that the bow can be owned, instead of being locked away in some club armory. Various modifications from different manufacturers also makes the bow a more... personal piece of equipment.
And thats how I started archery, and why I still am shooting. -

Woah! so many interested people ah!
There was this archery event going on an Velocity Novena Atrium recently. I think you guys just missed it only. $2 to shoot 5 arrows or smth like that.
If u guys are interested in archery, I'm aware of 2 community centers that have archery ranges. They are Sembawang CC, and Potong Pasir CC.

The basic trainer bow sets can be purchased around $300+. Arrows depending on quality, brand can differ vastly. Perhaps in ur enquiries to the various clubs, u can ask them whether they can rent u the equipment first. Btw, i live in north zone so i suppose sembawang is the nearest for me -
For me, I currently shoot at my poly there. We run introduction courses for students, but I don't think its open to public leh.

oh another question , bow is hold on left or right hand huh ?
im left hander leh , so if i hold , bow will be on left hand , if i switch hand , my right hand will tremble
dunno if got standard , die die must use right hand anot

If you are a left hander, ur bow will be held in ur right hand.
The string would be held in ur left hand.
For right handers, the bow is held in the left hand, the string in the right hand.
That is if u want to follow the master hand.
But for those who wanna follow the master eye instead, a left hander with right master eye, it might be good if he/she starts archery like a right hander would. For some people its harder to train the eye than the hand. -

Haha, that one I am also not sure. But do give them a call and see if they are running a course soon or smth. Even if you don't take up archery, its fun to just try it out.
And u will realise those Legolas-sliding-down-the-steps shots are near impossible if not well rehearsed. Ha! -

Participant must be at least 6 years of age. Classes starts at 9 am sharp so be reminded to be punctual. Arrow and bow provided for 6 lessons. After 6 lessons, participants got to sign up for Archery Club (not compulsory) @ $30 per year.
what does it mean to join the club after 6 lesson ? start to buy own weapon ? -

Possibly. Only if you like the sport enough. See if you can arrange for rental initially. I'm not sure if thats possible though. Really have to check with their management.
Go try it out! It'll be fun!
I think in NS, u'll get a SAFRA card. Thats a potential avenue as well. -

$40 if ur a passion member...
just finished my basic course not too long ago...
quite interesting...
wanted to take up intermediate...
but cant spare the time...

Well, I guess time is a factor for almost everyone and for everything we want to do. I had to reduce the amount of anime i get to watch, computer games to play for archery.
No choice, just have to balance lor. -
Since you love to shoot...
why only archery forum?
make it a shooting forum lah...
or Arrow Bows Guns Bullet forum also nice ^^
