Silvestre, who completed his
controversial switch from Old Trafford to the Emirates Stadium last
month, is yet to make an appearance for Arsene Wenger’s men.
The France international, though, looked set to appear for The
Gunners this weekend as they journey north to face Blackburn
Rovers, but Wenger admitted that his debut may now come in the
Champions League next week.
“We had a minor setback with him. But if he is not available for
Saturday he will be OK for Wednesday certainly,” Wenger told
Arsenal TV Online.
Having assessed his squad following two rounds of international
fixtures over the last ten days, Wenger is content with the fitness
of his men going into this weekend’s clash with Paul Ince’s side
despite the loss of Samir Nasri and Carlos Vela.
“At the moment I do not know about everybody because some players
finished their game at 4am, for example Carlos Vela in Mexico,” he
added.
“I count him out completely but overall it looks good. The only
injury news that we have is Nasri, who could not play last night
for France. We have to assess him later.”
