Arsenal will be due somewhere around 40-50 percent of the transfer proceeds from David Bentley's potential move from Blackburn Rovers to Tottenham Hotspur.
Arsenal have a policy of putting in the "sell-on clause" into the transfer agreements when they sell their youngsters particularly because the initial-fee paid by the buying clubs is less. When Fabrice Muamba moved to Bolton Wanderers earlier this summer, Arsenal were said to have received around £1.6 million from his sell-on clause.
So, if Bentley does complete his move to Tottenham for the reported £17 million, Arsenal are due a sizeable windfall from his transfer proceeds ranging from £7.8 million to £8.5 million.
By buying David Bentley, Spurs may help Arsene Wenger increase his cash reserves.
By earning around £9 million by selling effectively nobody for that amount close season, Arsene Wenger will be a fairly satisfied man.
Wenger really is an Economist.
