It seems almost certain that Sporting CP and Veloso will be departing company this summer.
The
talented anchorman has been linked with a plethora of clubs. Manchester
United, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Everton, AC Milan, and
Juventus have all shown interest in the player in the past.
But with Arsenal requiring a replacement for the Bosman-transferred Flamini, North London could be his future destination.
At
the end of the 2007-08 season, the player himself told Portuguese
reporters: “I do not know if this will bemy last game for Sporting.
Let's see what the future will hold.”
A release clause has
been inserted in Veloso’s contract, ergo the club will be forced to
release their holding midfielder in the event they receive a fee in
excess of £23.7million.
For Arsenal players not in action over
the summer, pre-season training will begin tomorrow where Wenger will
be able to assess his squad.
The Gunners have been linked with
Amaury Bischoff, Roque Santa Cruz, and Klaas Jan Huntelaar. An on/off
deal for Samir Nasri is still up in the air.
