Robinho, 24, has long
been linked with Arsene Wenger's side, but since rising to recent
stardom at Real Madrid, any dreams of landing the forward have been
dashed.
However, following an injury and subsequent dip in form,
the charismatic showman found himself out of favour, with Arjen Robben
taking his place in the side for a short stretch of games toward the
end of the season.
This led many to speculate that he may leave the club this summer in a big-money move. Chelsea are said to be his primary suitors, as Roman
Abramovich continues to search for players that will provide him flair
football - a spectacle - one would struggle to surpass Robinho in that
respect.
The player himself has rubbished reports of a move, as
has club president Ramon Calderon, who himself has no qualms with
stating his interest in any of the world's stars who tickle his fancy.
"He is not transferable," Calderon declared during Monday's title celebrations. "We are not going to sell Robinho."
Chelsea
remain in the driving seat to land the player - should an unlikely
transfer take place to begin with - as they have the financial means
with which to make it happen. Arsenal boss Wenger has said on numerous
occasions that he will be signing big players, not names, and quite
whether he could afford Robinho if he has already ruled out a move for
Valencia David Villa remains to be seen.
Just came across this article at goal.com ... He's gonna cost 30 million pounds and that's already exceeded our transfer budget ...
i hope it would be same as the Ashley Cole saga..We swap for Robinho but give them Hleb since they are interested in Hleb. Just hoping
