Arsenal skipper William Gallas has been hailed by team-mate Kolo Toure as one amongst the fantastic captains he has played under.
France defender Gallas, who had joined the Gunners from Chelsea in 2006 summer, was handed the arm-band at the beginning of this season. The 30-year-old has been at his inspiring best since although he faced an injury-enforced absence early this season.
Gallas has scored important goals for Arsene Wenger's side this season, against Manchester United to get a draw and against Wigan Athletic on Saturday when the game had no goals until the 83rd minute.
"When Titi (Thierry Henry) was here he was outstanding. Patrick (Vieira) was strong and Tony (Adams) as well," defender Toure said in The Mirror.
"I have played under some fantastic captains but I think William deserves to be mentioned among those names because he is such a strong figure.
"He has great maturity in a really young team and that's so important. The young players listen to him because they respect him so much.
"Both on and off the pitch, William is a really good captain. He is loud in the dressing-room, he has a big heart, and everything he says and does is for the team and that is the most important quality in a captain."
