Coppell calls for Gunners limit

Reading boss Steve Coppell has added his voice to the growing call for an English quota of players in every Premiership side.
Coppell's remarks come as Arsenal are the next visitors to the Madejski Stadium on Monday night and are likely to field a side full of foreigners. Coppell has made it clear that he would welcome legislation to make clubs field English players and he believes the national side will suffer in the long run if the plans, drawn up by Fifa president Sepp Blatter, are not approved.
Coppell said: "I just think long term it is a dangerous game.
"I admire so much the football they play, it is most pleasing on the eye, but you would hope that given the fact that he (Wenger) has been there 10 years he could create English players who could play that way.
"That would obviously enhance the national team."

if there is good english players who are as cheap as the foreign players, who dunwan?
the PROBLEM IS, england is NOT PRODUCING enough TALENTS which are WORTH THE CASH PAYING FOR.

3 out of a 24 man squad is not a very big ask. -
why can't reading produce english players ? don't understand why the onus is on arsenal....if you are good you are good lor...if not good, no matter how people train you also doomed to fail...lidat dun hav to buy players liao..just recruit english and train..

Just divert ur attention abit. If the plan is approve and implemented hor... our starting line-up sure jia lat one. they say must field at least 5 or 6 english player right? now i can only think of Walcott and the 2 hoyte brothers to start, AW will be in a dilemma and our play will really be affected.
so all pls hope that the plan doesn't get implemented. i have a feeling that it will be since all england association cares is about their national team. -

but paying 2x the money for their worth is not every club can do... gunners also did their part in producing english stars jz tat they sell them off to other clubs... everywhere around europe, their top clubs have a few local lads.
not even asking for 1/2.
its more to do with traditions..
i'm sure they can raise an englishmen to play the arsenal way if they start from young. -

This is always the talking point about Arsenal, in fact England team manager is the problem, there r many good players in other teams but they only select player from the so call big 4. The problem created by National team is not a problem in a league. This in fact increase the price for some top English players.
