Arsenal’s Brazilian midfielder Denilson has signed a new contract at the club, for an undisclosed duration, with manager Arsene Wenger labelling the starlet ‘underrated’.
Denilson signed for the North London club on deadline day 2006, and has since been making a name for himself, particularly in last seasonÂ’s Carling Cup run.
The 19-year-old defensive midfielder is part of WengerÂ’s long term plan at The Emirates, which his highlighted by the new deal.
He has been described by his manager as ‘a little bit in between Tomas Rosicky and Gilberto’ for his flamboyant but assured style.
The manager is delighted to have tide down such a prodigious talent.
“I am pleased, very pleased,” he said. “Denilson is a great player. For me, he is underrated. He does not get all the praise his performances suggest but that will come very quickly.
“He is the youngest player of our squad along with Armand Traore. He has played big games but he has shown he can cope with the pressure and produce quality performances. I expect him to make a big impact.”
