OWEN OUT FOR MAGPIES
Poland goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski looks set to make his debut in one of several changes by the Gunners.
Lassana Diarra is in line for his first start, while Nicklas Bendtner and Emmanuel Eboue are also in contention.
Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce will be without striker Michael Owen and defender Claudio Cacapa for the Carling Cup third-round trip to Arsenal.
Both men were due to undergo scans on groin injuries on Monday after limping out of the 3-1 Barclays Premier League victory over West Ham.
Mark Viduka is expected to be fit after picking up a minor knock, but Joey Barton (fractured metatarsal), Emre and Peter Ramage (both knee), Damien Duff (ankle) and Stephen Carr and Celestine Babayaro (both hamstring) are still out.

ARSENAL v Newcastle: Fabianski to make Gunners bow
Poland goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski looks set to make his Arsenal debut in the Carling Cup tomorrow night as Arsene Wenger is expected to make several changes against Newcastle.
Midfielder Lassana Diarra is also in line for his first start since arriving from Chelsea, while Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner could lead the attack.
Wenger's men reached the final last season, where they lost to Chelsea at the Millennium Stadium, and could be boosted by the return of Emmanuel Eboue from an ankle problem - but captain William Gallas (groin) is still out.
Provisional squad: Fabianski, Traore, Senderos, Song, Hoyte, Diarra, Denilson, Diaby, Walcott, Eduardo, Bendtner, Mannone, Randall, Gibbs, Lansbury, Merida Perez, Eboue.

Sam Allardyce has paid tribute to Arsenal's talented youngsters ahead of Newcastle's Carling Cup clash at Emirates Stadium.
Arsene Wenger's policy is to select youthful players for the competition but last season The Gunners defied expectations and reached the final.
Allardyce believes Arsenal's Carling Cup side will be even stronger this term and has dismissed any suggestion that Newcastle start the match as favourites.
Experience
"It's nothing to do with age, it's to do with experience and if you look at the experience they have got, they are all well qualified now in Premier League football and cup football and a lot in European football," said the Newcastle boss.
"He is top of the league because of that at the moment, on the experience those young men have gained very, very quickly.
"He plays the kids every week - he plays (Cesc) Fabregas every week, so what's he? A kid.
"They have got lots of experience now and they have gained that experience from last year, getting right the way through to the Carling Cup final.
"This time, they should be better."
Owen receives Viduka support
Michael Owen will not play against Arsenal after aggravating his groin problem in the 3-1 victory over West Ham, and Mark Viduka feels for his strike partner.
The Australian, who scored two goals against The Hammers, has enjoyed linking up with Owen and wishes him a speedy recovery.
Viduka said: "It's disappointing for Michael. We all know how good he is and it will be great to see him get back to full fitness.
"It's great playing up front with Michael. He is a top-quality striker and when you get the ball, you know what he is going to do.
"He knows what I am going to do to, he looks for you. It's great to play with those types of players.
"Michael has had a lot of problems with injuries in the past couple of years. It would be great if both of us can stay fit."
Viduka can cause our defence some problems.... -
*Diarra ready for start*
Lassana Diarra is ready to make his first start for Arsenal in Tuesday's Carling Cup third round tie with Newcastle United.
The France international moved to Emirates Stadium from Chelsea before the close of the transfer window, but has made just two substitute appearances for his new club.
But he is in line to start against Newcastle in the cup and Diarra is just happy to be involved in Arsene Wenger's plans.
"I'm an Arsenal player and I don't care which kind of game I have to play - Carling Cup or FA Cup or championship - for me every game is very important," he told ArsenalTV Online.
"We want to win every game, everything. But I'm ready for Tuesday."
Respect
Diarra struggled to establish himself during his time at Stamford Bridge and feels his career will benefit from the move to Arsenal.
He added: "Since I've been here, everybody's been very nice with me, the manager, all the staff, the players, everything's been very good.
"I really wanted to come to Arsenal because I think it's good for me, the players are young players like me, the manager is French like me.
"I have a lot of respect for Chelsea - it's a good club Chelsea - but now I want to be an Arsenal player." -
Fabianski, Bendtner and Diarra all set for Carling Cup
Arsène Wenger will ring the usual changes for the Carling Cup tie with Newcastle at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.
The Arsenal manager will rest almost all of his first-team regulars to allow squad players and youngsters to hog the limelight. It is a policy he has used with some success in recent years. In three of the last four seasons his side have reached the Semi-Final and, of course, last season they were just pipped to the trophy by a full-strength Chelsea at the Millennium Stadium.
“You will see Bendtner, Diarra and Denilson,” Wenger told Arsenal TV Online when asked about the make-up of the squad. “Maybe Eboue (ankle) will be coming back as well.
“You’ll see Justin Hoyte and Alex Song maybe Eduardo and Diaby. Then there is Armand Traore and Lukasz Fabianski who we have not seen a lot of so far. We have sold out and we will put out a good team. We want to give the opportunity to our fans to see some unfamiliar faces.”
If they play this would be the first start for Diarra and Bendtner while Fabianski would be making his debut.

Nicklas Bendtner and Denilson grabbed two late goals to send Arsenal into the fourth round of the Carling Cup at the expense of Newcastle.
Bendtner gave the Gunners the lead when he headed in Armand Traore's left-wing cross past Shay Given.
Brazil international Denilson then scored a spectacular second when he let loose with a rocket from 25 yards.
Obafemi Martins went closest for Newcastle but had his effort cleared off the line by Philippe Senderos.
Arsene Wenger began with only two of the players from the starting XI that helped Arsenal to a 5-0 win over Derby last weekend.
The pair, striker Eduardo and defender Senderos, were in the thick of the action from the start, while the rest of Wenger's young guns acquitted themselves brilliantly throughout the match.
The home side battered the Newcastle goal for much of 90 minutes but it was the visitors who created the first chance.
Striker Obafemi Martins, who was the Magpies' biggest threat, did well to lose Senderos inside the area but saw his powerful header saved by Poland shotstopper Lukasz Fabianski.
It took a while for the Gunners youth to get fired up, but once they did it was spectacular to watch.
With half-time approaching Magpies' veteran keeper Given, brought back into the first team, and his defence were put on red alert with balls coming into the box from all angles.
Emmanuel Eboue, 24, one of the 'senior' members of the team, forced the Republic of Ireland international to palm away his 20-yard drive before the lively Theo Walcott smashed his shot wide after a great run.
But Arsenal had not even hit top gear, after the break Ivory Coast star Eboue had a fierce shot blocked and was then denied by a beautifully timed last-ditch tackle from England Under-21 centre-back Steven Taylor.
Croatia striker Eduardo, who dropped deeper during the game, then saw his goalbound header cleared off the line by Newcastle's darling of the moment, Charles N'Zogbia.
With 10 minutes left it seemed that Sam Allardyce's men would take Wenger's young troops into extra-time, but then up popped Denmark's Bendtner to apply a great finish to Traore's floated centre.
Newcastle should have equalised shortly after but Martins' nonchalant effort after rounding Fabianski allowed Senderos time to get back and clear.
Denilson made the Nigerian and Newcastle pay for the miss by posting a shot, express delivery, into the roof of Given's goal.

oh ya...just wondering if for those who saw denilson's goal, do u see the shadow of fabregas in it...His passing was also fabregas like thruout the game..so maybe he is the next fabregas...haha if one day we decide to play all out attack and field denilson and fab in centre midfield, i'm sure hell will run aloose for the opp...
