Arsenal full-back Justin Hoyte has revealed that he intends to fight tooth and nail for a place in the starting XI despite the emergence of more competition.
Arsenal have an abundance of talent at right-back, further emphasised with the arrival of Bacary Sagna and Lassana Diarra at the Emirates this summer.
Hoyte established himself as a first-team player last season, enjoying 36 appearances for the club.
Manager Arsene Wenger (pictured) has a selection headache at right-back having Emmanuel Eboue and, to a lesser extent Mathieu Flamini, who are also comfortable in the position.
Hoyte is aware of the challenge, but the 22-year-old is willing to fight for his place, and furthermore, stay at the club for the entirety of his career.
“That’s how football is,” he said in an interview with Arsenal TV Online. “It just makes me more determined to work hard and get my place in the side. I am going to fight and work hard. I want to be at Arsenal all my life.
“Yes the competition is tough but it is the same as last year with Emmanuel Eboue playing and Mathieu Flamini in there sometimes too.
“Competition is good for us and good for the team. Hopefully I can work hard in training and break into the team. I just want to play as much as I can.”
