Manager Arsène Wenger has said that his team have met early season expectations after seeing off Portsmouth 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium.
Goals from Emmanuel Adebayor, Francesc Fabregas and Tomas Rosicky helped 10-men Arsenal to all three points. Old boy Kanu scored at the other end for Portsmouth.
The Gunners had to endure the last 40 minutes of the match a man down as Philippe Senderos was sent off.
Wenger said: "If Kanu wasn't offside, then the referee had no choice but to send him off.
"We are where we want to be at this point in the season, and that's a good basis.
"In the first half we showed tremendous quality, and in the second half we were tested mentally and physically."
