Arsenal Sign Lassana Diarra

*Arsenal take Diarra from Chelsea*
Arsenal completed a late move to sign midfielder Lassana Diarra from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee.
The Gunners say the 22-year-old Frenchman, who can play at right-back, has signed a long-term deal.
The former Le Harve player said: "I have great respect for the manager Arsene Wenger and am attracted by the style of football that the team plays.
"Of course I am excited by what the future holds and keen to play my part in helping Arsenal fight for trophies."
Diarra, who has played for France in their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign, will wear the number eight shirt.
Wenger added: "Lassana is a multi-functional player, making him a great addition to our squad. Not only is he hard working, he has a creative edge and is comfortable playing in the middle of the pitch or at right-back." -
why the hell we suddenly sign this guy? I thought wenger said we not signing anyone else??!! And he didnt seem to play that well for chelsea

Wenger always say something to smokescreen, didn't u realise spurs, real always hijack our targets.
As for Diarra he's quite good as he played last season for chelsea when essien drop back as defender. So he's quite in the mould to be the next Makelele/Essien. Remember gilberto is turning 31, he might be gone in next or the season after next. -
y wenger wans another central midfielder when he already got fabregas, diaby, denilson, flamini, song, n many more youngsters...? yes diarra is gd n got plenty of potential but dun tink he wans to sit on bench often... n even if he get to start, where will diaby n denilson go? they waiting for quite long liao so sooner or later will see them asking for 1st team place...

What the fug? If he can play as a right back also,wad abt hoyte,eboue and sagna? =S this is ridiculous. I sensed someone frm the CM position will eaeve i think. Flamster?

Who cares! Maybe Wenger thought of rotating players around this season. Maybe Wenger will transform Diarra to be the next Toure, except playing as a striker. Maybe he would be the next Alex Song, always coming in the last few minutes of the match. Watever its is, Arsene signed a very good player. Better to have him in Arsenal than to have him scoring against us.
