Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has jumped to the defence of Aliaksandre Hleb after the midfielder courted criticism for his playing style.
Since HlebÂ’s arrival in English football in 2005, he has been criticised for failing to provide the final ball. ItÂ’s recognised that the Belarusian is skilful and has a great eye for a pass, but according to some commentators he too often tries to play the killer pass when a shot would do.
But Wenger believes that the 26-year-old should be given the opportunity to express himself.
“That’s his game, you know," said the Arsenal manager.
"In every game, in every quality, you have the negatives as well the positives,” he told Arsenal’s official website.
“Alex Hleb can play through a needle, and he can, as well, miss a pass because he tries to play through the needle, and sometimes it can be a little bit annoying.
"But today (Saturday) he gave a goal to Fabregas - an assist - and the penalty was on him, and at the end of the day you look at how effective a guy is and I like him as a player.
"It doesn’t annoy me. And if you ask any supporter of Arsenal Football Club if Hleb is a good football player I don’t think you will find one who will say ‘no’.”
He IS one of the best players imo,but he will be world class if he's not shy to shoot. I like him. and he's boot looks nice. anyone knows what boot he's wearing???
