I have an external DVD drive...plus i dont use CD, DVDs often.
So if i dont care about the slower speed of an external, its okay if i dont use an internal dvd drive right?

It should be alright, but let's say you need to boot your computer up via a disc due to a system failure, I'm not sure if it would work.

I do have an internal dvd drive. I'll just keep it there, just without the power, in case it doesnt work.

Most motherboards actually support booting up using an USB device.
