Hi, I need help wif my 2701HGV-E Mio internet modem.
This kind wan.... plan is: Singtel Mio Home 6mbps
Ok, my problem, everytime at night when i surf net and game, between the time 6/7pm to late night, my internet always very slow, the rate is half of the speed that i use during the afternoon/morning. And sometimes, the modem wunt respond when i click a link too, it will only repond after 6 to 7 seconds. And i dun feel my internet speed is 6mbps even though they(SingTel) promised me the speed.
Is there anyway to speed up the internet? Cuz its getting worse.
Please help me, thanks.
has got nuttin to do with the modem.
it's the amount of ppl using the internet at tt period of time
red pipe oso will lag during peak hours even though it says dedicated
and it will neber reach the speed (it's "up to" btw)
there's nothing u can do except to kill everyone in your estate tts using singnet broadband
u can call singnet for tech support
but there wun be improvements bcos they are not going to expand the pipe just for u
probably ask u to sign up the 10mbps
try surfing after 2am
smooth like baby butt

So the problem is of the traffic of the internet switchers in my block? Or is it my house's phone line (the person who came to install the Mio told my mother that the phone lines in my house is old and and have lots of extensions so the phone line cannot reach the peak of my modem)
u said the lag is oni from 6pm to late nite rite?
the other times ok?
so it's not ur fone line fault, it's too many users
so u have to share the bandwidth
even slower if u are using the wireless connection on your notebook
and even slower if u have a few users in your household using the net at the same time
depending on where the websites are hosted, the loading time may be diff.......

LOL
Hey, slow is better than consistently being cut off. To the point you can't even use the land line, coz it goes thru the same goddamn box.
My starhub 6mb cant even connect to the internet sometimes! Bloody makes me want to throw the cpu to the ground floor.
dun come to the red side if u are staying near me.
I rec a call fm singtel asking me to convert to mio.
I did not take up the offer.
In the past while i was still using Singtel, the speed was slow but not as bad as what you said.
Probably due to the fibre BB network, now those on a slow subscription plan will be affected when alot of users on fibre.
Imaging a group of young people and a group of old people walking on two different lanes, when they have to squeeze up into a single lane...you roughly know what will happen. So same thing here.
Sound logic...type of fibre bb cable pay a impt part + the traffic too.

i don't understand your logic. there's 2 kind of broadband for singtel. that is, the conventional phone lines, and fiber-optic.
these are 2 separate independent systems, and high traffic on one doesn't mean high traffic on the other.
and fiber is suppose to be much much much faster than normal land line connections.
those who are on slow subscription plan are still using the normal land lines, and will not be affected when "alot of users on fibre"
I am using the low end speed, so far so good.
No lagging...probably most of them already switch to higher speed.
And it going to get conjested?
Am I right?
A few weeks ago, I am unable to connect to my company servers.
And I was advised to took out the singtel proxy..and it works.
Before that, it was slow...very slow....
those ppl who can afford shd switch to fibre
leave the pipes for us!
Ha! I get a constant 12Mbps on a 10Mbps Mio Plan! SingTel rocks! Except when the router crashes due to thousands of CRC errors.
I got the picture now...in very layman terms....
2 tunnel, one high mpbs, one low mpbs, the more pple walk, the speed reduce....also cable and fibre works this way too.
