Hi Singaporeclubau, i find myself blessed to find this forum, me and hubby planning to migrate there in 30 months time. Right now my hubby is waiting to complete his bond which ends in 2014 dec. We are in our early 30's.
I have 4 Major concerns, Job, Accomodation, Food, Quality of life.
My hubby n are very confused by the location we should settle in, melbourne or sydney? which plc is easier for him to get a job he desire? He holds a Masters in Mechanical, but he claims that he doesnt wan to get into this line, he also has Postgrad in Education, which teaching is his passion. He used to be in melbourne for 5 yrs,he got pr but he didn't renew the status after he is back here a few years ago.
PS: i do hope that this club will enable us to settle our crave, maybe by cooking chicken rice together, or laksa!

It is indeed not easy as it looks but with practical tips and advises from people/community who have gone down the path before, it will definitely make the transition much easier, having able to avoid certain frustrating pitfalls as compared to going in blindly on your own.
Like what mid9sun said practical tips and advices are useful reducing some of the stress during the transition. Sometime, knowing other Singaporeans that have been living here for years also meant that through their networks you might be able to get assistance in jobs and stuffs.
hi fellow singaporeans,
great to see many helpful people offering sound advice. i got my subclass 175 visa in aug 2011 and i m still looking for a job. not easy though. and advice?
in sg, i never need to look for jobs. very often i get calls from recruiters.
i got my resume and cover letter checked by friends working in australia. they told me a few possible reasons to explain why i wasnt shortlisted for jobs.
1. i dont have any credible work experience in australia. i may have an outstanding porfolio, but in singapore.
2. i m not physically in australia, they may not consider me for an interview, despite webcam and video conferencing are very convenient.
3. i m an asian. i was warned by my friends that there is still an unspoken discrimination not to hire asian if they could hire an australian white.
well, just something to dhare, if it helps.
