It's SBS that seems to be able to provide better frequent trains if not for the breakdowns
Peak hr dun say...Originally posted by SMRT 32373238:but then sbs peak hour trains 4mins... but smrt trains run the peak hour zones at 1-2mins a train...
All these problems date back to Marbok Tan's gaffe in 1999, which saw SBS(T) winning NEL tender and Tibs Holdings forced to merge with SMRT.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Let's just have SMRT run the trains and SBS Transit get the heck out of this train business..![]()

Those people up there certainly didn't consider the concept of a 'natural monopoly'.Originally posted by iveco:All these problems date back to Marbok Tan's gaffe in 1999, which saw SBS(T) winning NEL tender and Tibs Holdings forced to merge with SMRT.
TransitLink should take a few lessons from Transperth. Just look at the Circle Route bus service. It is so efficient because ALL the bus operators are involved.
hmm good point... but have u really timed it as 9mins?Originally posted by sbst275:Peak hr dun say...
Off peak during day time... 6 - 7 mins.. SMRT can go up to 9 mins
You can use the clock on the screenOriginally posted by SMRT 32373238:hmm good point... but have u really timed it as 9mins?
i once saw the Northbound board at CityHall it said 15mins.. but its screwed... it came in 5mins... i guess something wrong with the signalling there...
Anyone saw the RI guy's subway map? He made it seem that the ERL had two branches, one to Tampines, another to East Coast.Originally posted by sbst275:If I'm not wrong, ERL is planned for Downtown <-> Jln Besar <-> Kallang Bahru <-> Ubi <-> Bedok Reservoir <-> Marine Parade
Seriously the Marine Parade leg can be off
The ERL should end at Bedok Reservoir
The RI Guy's map is in one of the past threadsOriginally posted by iveco:Anyone saw the RI guy's subway map? He made it seem that the ERL had two branches, one to Tampines, another to East Coast.
Anyway, if ERL is running parallel to Jln Besar/Bendemeer, wouldn't it duplicate NEL? Also, was there any plans for LRT in Marine parade/Katong area?
NEL runs along serangoon rd. ERL runs along jalan besar. 100m away. and that's the difference! soon, no buses will run on these two roads!Originally posted by iveco:Anyone saw the RI guy's subway map? He made it seem that the ERL had two branches, one to Tampines, another to East Coast.

I agree. Seriously Marine Parade area should have a station there. Now, it is so inaccessible there. I have to transfer to bus after alighting at Bedok MRT. Besides, the Marine Parade Terminal services only serves until Siglap Road and also does not goes to Parkway Parade.Originally posted by iveco:Anyone saw the RI guy's subway map? If airport were still @ Paya Lebar, MacPherson Rd would need to be upgraded to semi-expressway.Originally posted by sbst275:Actually if the Airport is still at Paya Lebar, maybe it would be feasible...![]()
Which routes are you referring to? Many Parkway pde services go to UEC or loop @ Siglap.Originally posted by CAIX:I agree. Seriously Marine Parade area should have a station there.
