hey, that caterpillar is so big....unlike those my kids found on the CNY orange plant.....
did you see the butterfly that come off from that caterpillar's cocoon? was it nice?? -
Waa...the cotton is very handy hor....can pluck and straight away dab dab for first-aid or facial uses.
Eh...aren't you supposed to remove the catepillar which will eat away the leaves? Or leave it there as ornament?

The butterfly that come out of the cocoon is the big butterfly that has very dark brown wings type . I think lower wings have a " eye " on them type . I ony see it fly ard my plant then i leave it alone liao . Actually the plant that the caterpillar is eating is the rough lemon plant . I luck it from my previous working place and grow it in my pot , but i never expect it to be the favourite food for that particular type of caterillar . Why i say favouirite food ? Because it only lay eggs on that plant and none on others . And it will also only chew on the rough lemon plant leaves . As i don't really have much hope for the rough lemon plant i let it eat lor , its also a good way to see how caterpillar grow , move and feed. Its a very interesting thing to observe lor . too bad that time my camera really suck in macro mode . Do you know that it really looks like a bird droppings when it is very small . Only when it grows up in size then you can see all the green mzarkings on it . I really hope that it will come to my pot and lay eggs agn ley .
Anyway as for the cotton , there is still some seeds inside the cotton and you have to remove the seed manually from the cotton . Otherwise will have fungus growing from it due to the moisture of the seed. -
Dear Splashy, the catnip flowers are tiny and white, not the same as your plant with blue flowers.

Hee i planted this few years ago , this is the bottlegourd also called hulu . Used to have alot of the seeds but all decay liao sigh . It can be eaten after you cooked it when it haven ripen or you can convert it into a container although many work is needed to do that , if you want to convert it into a water bottle ? Gd luck cos i haven try it before lagi more work .Anyone of you has the seeds please spare me some ok ? -

wahsay...u planting all the unique stuff hor....is it very diff to take care of this hulu plant???
where did you first get the seeds??? if have i also want to try ley....very interesting....but most imptly can't be those that need lots of time and effort type lor...cos i really bo eng.....and even watering, on and off i missed out watering....the plants must be patient to wait.....those that can't usually will die of thirst...

The way you describe the flowers as doves is very creative leh...heheh...but I can see why...can imagine the image of doves fluttering in flight, ya?
Eh, I don't know if it comes in other colours of flowers? The plants is regenerating itself, i.e. new shoots are sprouting out. I still have some seeds in a pack - can pass to you if you like...but as long as your corridor got no cats, bec some cats can be attracted to the leaves (like attracted to drugs). -

Heee actually this plant very easy t grow but you need to water it ayt least once per day . It absorbs water very fast due to its straw like stem . The more water it has , the faster it grow , How big you want the hulu to be , depends on the amt of fertilizer you put and the size of the flower pot . I always prefer to grow plants that others don't usually grow cos i like to be unique . Well ashame to say the first seeds for this plant i got it by going into one of lim chu kang farm where they were growing it on a rambutan tree ( you should have seen it as it was a very special sight to see hulu hanging from a big tree ) and pluck 3 hulu from it . Without permission heck care cos i have never seen a real hulu b4 so i just have to get it . the trick to growing this plant is to have a big pot , lots of ferlizer and sun and most of all oots of water . because you wun be able to drown it once the shoot comes out . The more water you give , will only result in faster growth . As for the seeds , sad to say all my seeds die liao and i am looking for the seeds also .

Sorry forgot to tell you , this is a vine type of plant which means it needs support to climb up . And it will be heavy if any hulu were to really grow on it . If you want to use the hulu as a container or water bottle , you have to let it ripen on the stem till the whole plabnt die off or it has completely ripened which the hulu will become lighter then when it haven ripen cos the core of it will hollow and dry out .

what's done can't be undone....maybe the next time you want something like that, ask the people incharge how much it cost?? i think a few dollars is worth it...or if really can't find other sources?? -
this new plant seems to be going to heaven le...
i usually will water the soil, that i will be planting the cut stem, till its fully wet, then i just cut about 7cm or slightly more of the plant i want....
then just poke into the soil....there it goes....actually i should cut off the flowers to lessen the 'fight' for nutrients....
two days later....u will see the leaves like dying....just continue to water it, at least once aday.....
this is the first time i am trying on this plant...i don't know if it will work...look out for further updates

the one on your left is the orange 'daisy' only bloom once with one stalk of flower only after all the flowers that came with it when i bought it were dead...but can see that the leaves are growing well....the right one is flowering throughout since i bought it....

finally the half dead rose is growing well....
and thanks to wanda introducing me to moss....i mix the original clay like soil wth the moss and cactus is growing....
same goes for this plant which can't seem to be watered everyday....
