  I dunno what it is called but it is a meatball with crabmeat and bamboo shoot soup.

  It slipped my mind but my mum has a teochew name for it. The ba ba blood in me is damn diluted and this is one of the few receipes that is left. Can say this is my mum's best dish though she is not a ba ba herself. She learnt it from my grand aunt.

  i'm glad she's not a baba... but a nonya
  
  mom's cooking is kinda messed up with nonya influences and stuff.. my late granny too.. they used a lot of tamarind

  in a way, older generations will have ideas what are nonya food, and in way mix nonya ingredients in some of their cookings...

  Yes, u can consider Assam Fish Head to be Peranakan food
  as it is a Nonya rendition of the famous Indian dish.

  Has to be buah kaluak. But it must be the real thing, not those that dig the stuff out from the nut, mix with chicken or meat, then stuff back type, yucks. Then the gravey must be black and thick and shiok, eat with bread, ooooh...... *droolz*.
