  Last nite, limpek at beauty world 2nd Taxi stand Q for pax, big group of youngsters all calling uber and grab with HPs. At the back of me, 5 green lanterns, all staring in dismay as Phv cars come and take their young paxs...but some how, those with families, middle ages and above, foreigners still take taxis, limpek get 3 trips there, first to toh yi, back to Q, second to Hindere walks, third to Petir road, Bukit panjang, the dead town for taxis....tu lan Jiao go eat meepok.

  With taxi rental reduce, it will close up the gap with phv rental.

  Phv other cost like commission and petrol make their operating cost also high.

  To kill off phv, taxi companies need to develop private booking apps for taxi and compete direct with the rates on booking especially at midnight.

  Taxi running on diesel while phv run on petrol + commission. If compete on rates, phv definitel y going to lose out on the cost. Too bad taxi companies only know to collect rental, dont know how to compete.

  Phv like grab is like it or not, a government link tech company, and taxi companies like SMRT and Cdg are also government link private company, whereas taxi company like Transcab, premier and prime also do have some connection with government, otherwise, you can hardly survive doing transport business in Singapore. Just like Seng Siong supermarket in Singapore, got connection with govt one hor, arbo how to survive?? Uber on the other hand, is a global 60billions investment, main sponsor, Google. Thou a privately own tech company, it got its agendas that make many country govt accept them into their state. A share of information and tracking is one reason many country govt are allowing Uber to run it business in each country. Given that picture, do you think...taxi companies, having the same ownership with Phv, will do anything to challenge Phv??? meaning going against their own boss???

  talk like no need do anything. business automatic come. no business also nevermind. all companies the same. need to make money.

  True, agreed, did you do anything when calls come in?? be it Phv or Taxi? did you do anything beside Q and get a paxs, did you do anything beside rent out a vehicle and someone flag you down out of nowhere? Money is definitely a need, but not a crave, once you crave for it, it will get lesser. Just Q or wait for call lah, business will automatically come...as long as you are on the Road..

  I quote you one example that I received the most tips of the day from many pax. It was a raining morning, my thin and cheap bossini shirt sleeve torn after carrying a box into the cab, my cotton shoe get wet, so I just wear a spare slipper taken from my boot, but I still drive on, reached Ap, pax gives me a good tip, I thot it was because I helped him a lot, so it is quite normal to show appreciation, I thanks the pax. Following on, all my trips got tips except one ah neh I pick at buffalo street, kiam kana. So, from this real episode, you decide if you want to wear nice smart or just normal or with a torn shirt and slipper.

  Oic. Cos i saw an article complaining abt a reckless grab driver using wrist trainer while driving. Saw him in bermudas. Also saw a grab advertisement showing two young guys wearing bermudas standing besides their cars. I still thot u/g no need dresscode.

  My cap is for my lower head lah, botak botak lor, some girls like botak hor...some old driver go color hair, then a few week later, colored hair got so many color, white, grey, black, half black, red, blonde...seibei obit

  Impress ki lan lah, as long as both meters jumping, that is the most impressive, you impress to pax for fark, they just want A to B, B to C, heckcare you, even if you look like monkey, also they dun care.
