i compared maids living in condos, with maids living in mansionette, and lastly to terraced house
sad to say, those in bigger house looks like they havent slept for days, and they are awfully thin
on the other news, my mum had to fire the one and only maid we had after she abused me and my siblings

Actually if i look around about maid's life here in singapore.. I think they have quite good life here.. If compared to those in indonesia... Their life are much much much harder...
1. In singapore.. maids are allowed to go around on sunday... In indonesia they are locked inside the house and will most probably get scolded if go out..
2. Salary in singapore still are much higher than in indonesia. Maids here are paid between $ 200-400... in indon will be just about $ 50 a month..
3. There're rules and protection of maid treatments... in indon.. there are none... From what i read in indon newspaper..some of them either cry and report to police (if the employer treat unfairly) or some just run away from the employer's house... without taking the unpaid wages of few months.
Of course.. these are very subjective and depends on every employer's situation... But i still think maid treatment here in singapore are much much better than in indon.
But if u really have good maid.. It's really worth it to keep her working in ur family. Last time i had a maid took care of me when i was kindergarten in indonesia, was working until so many years. And now she had learned shortterm nursing and is taking care of my little cousin here. The maid is transferred and sponsored to singapore while the parents are still working in indon. Until now she has been working for 22 years + and told that she will always work in my family, as maid and child takecarer -

when i was young, the family hired 5 maids altogether. the first was ok, got sent back cos she was pregnant.
the 2nd was the best. she taught me english
the 3rd n 4th.. i had clashes with them cos they beat my baby sis for no reason.. i was infuriated n "fought" with them with words of course
the 5th was good... but my parents got bankrupt at that time so.. bye bye
if i had to get a maid, i'd get Filipinos.
of course, i'd rather give my whole paycheck to my mom or mom in law to take care of the kids rather than get a maid. prefer stayin with relatives than with strangers. -
