shld be correct.. jus like the ethernet cable can be used for both 10Mbps network and 100Mbps network.Originally posted by bismarck:is it true that regardless yr system and device is 1.1 or 2.0, the usb wire is the same right ?
You know what you saying or not? A whiteboard marker can write on the whiteboard as well as on a sheet of paper.Originally posted by DevilAngel77:shld be correct.. jus like the ethernet cable can be used for both 10Mbps network and 100Mbps network.
Wrong. There are devices with no backwards compatibility in the market for 1 month when usb 2.0 was introduced.Originally posted by octega:Yep.
Both USB1.1 and 2.0 devices and onboard ports (i.e. your motherboard, etc) are both forward and backward compatiable.
The only difference is you might not experience the full-advantage of the technology.
Example, plugging a high speed USB2.0 device on a USB1.1 port.
In this scenario, the device will work only in USB1.1 standard.
Ah, ic. Maybe these manufacuters did not follow the USB consortium's recommendations. Unless the consortium is also slow in defining the specifications.Originally posted by Nelstar:Wrong. There are devices with no backwards compatibility in the market for 1 month when usb 2.0 was introduced.

Don't be too sure until you study it.Originally posted by octega:Ah, ic. Maybe these manufacuters did not follow the USB consortium's recommendations. Unless the consortium is also slow in defining the specifications.
From what I know this backward and forward compatiability specification is fixed for now. However, previously when it is first launched then I really dunno.
For those interested on USB Specification, what is the USB consortium and what does it do. Go to

kidding lah.. help to boost my forum ratings too... kekek
Hmm...You are right on that part as well, as the consortium sets the specifications, if the manufacuters don't follow it closely, it is as good as not having it.Originally posted by Nelstar:Don't be too sure until you study it.
