Using this program called MatLab...create a matrix that looks like this:
2 1 0 0
1 2 1 0
0 1 2 1
0 0 1 2
It will take an input, n and when n=4, the matrix will look like that. But it will retain that characteristic (the main diagonal will always be filled with 2, and the diagonals beside the main diagonal be filled wif 1's, the rest are all 0's) even when you put in random number as n. For instance when n=8, it will look like this:
2 1 0 0 0 0 0 0
1 2 1 0 0 0 0 0
0 1 2 1 0 0 0 0
0 0 1 2 1 0 0 0
0 0 0 1 2 1 0 0
0 0 0 0 1 2 1 0
0 0 0 0 0 1 2 1

See what I mean now? Actually I got it already but the thing that baffles me is when I generate the matrix when n=2000, the main diagonal will sumhow change from 2 to 1.999999. I have no idea why that happens. The prof has no idea either. So if anyone knows and wanna help....
