Co-owner of New England Sports Ventures [NESV] John W. Henry has made a surprise appearance at a Liverpool board meeting in London.
The High Court today ruled against Liverpool owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett, allowing the sale of the club to NESV to go ahead.
Henry and NESV launched a £300 million bid to buy the club last week, sparking a week-long battle for power between Hicks and Gillett and chairman Martin Broughton, but the principle owner of the Boston Red Sox had not been expected to attend following the court ruling.
Any question marks surrounding whether or not a second bid from Singapore billionaire Peter Lim would be entertained by Broughton and the Liverpool board appear to have been eliminated as Henry arrived in London.
A statement following discussions is expected later this evening.
