Liverpool Target Marcell Jansen Happy To Stay At Hamburg
German’s agent rules out Reds switch.
Marcell Jansen, Germany (Getty Images)Hamburg defender Marcell Jansen will not be joining Liverpool this summer, according to the player’s agent.
The Reds will soon be without a first-team left-back once Emiliano Insua completes his £5 million move to Fiorentina.
PSV’s Carlos Salcido, Royston Drenthe of Real Madrid and Wigan Athletic defender Maynor Figueroa have all been linked with a move to Anfield to replace Insua, while Hodgson has revealed that a new left-back is now his priority in the transfer market.
Jansen, who scored for Germany against Uruguay in the third-place play-off at the 2010 World Cup, can also play on the left wing, but his agent, Gerd vom Bruch, says he is committed to Hamburg.
"The interest in him is a credit to Marcell," he told the Hamburger Morgenpost newspaper.
"But he is under contract with Hamburger SV and will be respecting this."
