Starlet linked with summer move to West Brom...
David Ngog has expressed his desire to stay at Liverpool this season despite reports linking him with a move to Premier League new boy's West Bromwich Albion.
Ngog scored eight times last season, but since Roy Hodgson took over the managerial reigns at Anfield he has not been publically reassured that his future remains on Merseyside.
However, despite the Red's financial predicament and indications from the recently promoted Baggies that they are keen on the fleet-footed Frenchman, Ngog has no plans to leave for pastures new.
"I know speculation is part of football and we have to deal with it,” Ngog told the club’s official website.
"But I am a Liverpool player. I am more experienced now. I want to play as many games as I can and score goals to help the team win.”
The Frenchman spent a large portion of last season standing in for first-choice striker Fernando Torres, who was injured for long periods of their below-par campaign.
"The club had a difficult season last year but I want to prove we can get back into the top four. I am confident about this," he added.
"My confidence is good. Now I have to do my job and give my best for the team."
Former Liverpool youth team captain Jay Spearing also believes next season is his chance to make an influential contribution to first-team affairs.
"With a new manager coming in I have thought this could be my chance to break in and become a solid part of the first-team squad and be regularly involved," said the 21-year-old.
"Obviously, at the end of the day it's down to me whether that happens. If that comes, then it comes. But if not, then we'll look at my options.
"But I want to break into Roy's [Hodgson] plans. I want to be involved and playing more games this season."
