Steven Gerrard insists Liverpool have no intention of allowing Chelsea a victory at Anfield to deny Manchester United the title.
Chelsea lead United by one point going into the final two games and, should the Blues take three points at Anfield, they would only have to beat Wigan at home to guarantee the title. Should they slip up, United would overtake Liverpool's record of 18 league titles if they beat Sunderland and Stoke.
Following victories for Tottenham and Manchester City on Saturday, Liverpool now have only the slightest hope of clinching fourth place and there have been suggestions that they may roll over to deny United.
However, Gerrard insists the players will be fully committed on Sunday as they look to finish the season with successive wins.
"My only thoughts on the Chelsea game is to win it," Gerrard told the club's official website. "We owe it to our supporters to try and finish the season with two wins.
"I know there has been a lot of speculation in the media about us going to take our foot off the gas and try and do Chelsea a favour. Well, that won't be happening. When you play for Liverpool and you have that red shirt on you always give everything you have got to win.
"I can understand fans talking about it because I'm a fan myself, but we are professionals and we get brought up at Liverpool FC with a winning mentality. That means every time you go on the pitch, whether it's a training game or a Champions League game you always have the attitude to win.
"We want to take three points from Chelsea and Hull City then hopefully by a miracle we might be able to scrape into the top four."
