Jamie Carragher believes the climate of the Far East will have aided Liverpool's preparations for the 2009-10 season.
The Reds experienced high, humid temperatures in their fixtures with both Thailand and Singapore, but Carragher feels the squad will only have benefitted from playing in such conditions.
"The main thing at this stage is getting fitness and coming out here and playing in these conditions has definitely helped," said our No.23.
After a 1-1 draw with Thailand, Liverpool wrapped up their Asian tour with a comprehensive 5-0 triumph over Singapore on Sunday afternoon.
"Having not won any of our first three games it was nice to get a win and score a few for the supporters," continued Carragher.
"It was just a great way to end the trip. It's been brilliant and the support we have here is just amazing. It has grown even more since the last time we were here."
Stand-in skipper Carragher collected the Merlion Cup following Liverpool's victory against Singapore, though the defender is keen to hand the armband back to Steven Gerrard for the start of the new campaign.
"Hopefully Stevie will be the one picking up trophies when the real stuff is handed out in 10 months," he added.
