see Marc , the names u listed is back in the late 80's , meaning about 19 and half years ago , many here have not even complete their National Service .
Say if one chap who is 30 years now .... it's only 11 then . I really dun think in the 90's , we have those technolgy like now to know so much about Liverpool .
Not many is like you and me , who's coming towards our twilight years , lucky to see the likes of Rush and Barnes .
So i thought this thread post no significant meaning to our 4th generation .
They dunno what you and me talking one la .

We dun compare Mcmahon with Gerrard .... Maybe we can compare Gerrard with Dalglish .
Mcmahon is a defensive midfielder , like Alonso , maybe u can do Alonso and Mcmahon .
Well , to me , Rush was a penalty box's predator , Torres ? I dunno . I thought they are different .
Barnes is a winger , he and Alonso really out !!!
Hansen with Carra ? Well Hansen and Hyypia is closer .
I would say Reina is a better keeper . Only if have seen those blunders by Grobbelaar .

Those days , the Brits dominate the field , the pace was pass-and-go movements .. now it's more tactical .
Those days was about commitments and desire , tactics and plots were secondary .
These generation we have technologies to help us in our analysis and plots , those days were about just video tapes ...
Those days players ate anything on the table , these days , nutrition comes 1st , so ....
Those days during the European Cups days , it's a One-Off match , u off day and lost , that's it .
Those days , only the best wins !
Now u played badly one game , u cannot still go thru with the 2nd leg .
Those days cos it only have a leg match , it's a all-out approach , nohing like play away and defense tactic .
Those days , it's the glory of winning that matters , now it's the money that matters .

You cant compare players of the past with players now. Players in the past dont run as much distance as players do now.

to a certain level , Torres will be better cos the defenders this generation is bigger , tougher , stronger , it's harder to beat .To get 20+ goals , with the sorts of defenders week in week out , that can consider very good .

Yes , household names , surely they know , but does they see how they perform ?Like me , i heard about Emilyn Hughes , but i nvr ever see them play really .
Many in this generation , nvr they know , Wimbledon for once in their life , beaten Liverpool in a FA Cup in the 80's .... with a Lauri Sanchez's header ....
So Lauri Sanchez sounds Spanish huh ? No he's Welsh .

who is your favourite liverpool players, past and present? for me, it has to be John Barnes. He was really underrated that time. He was one of the best players then, with maradona, gullit, van basten, hoddle, papin.

Retired ? No la ..... resting .Have a break ... since September 2009 .
Doing some sidelines , online sidelines , not suitable for S'pore's market .
Now settled down , might go back to transport line , let the rest do the running .

Mine , wow , many of them ... all damn solid .during my Big League Soccer time , when Brian Moore was the presentor
remember him ?Lots of Ipswich , Arsenal , Man City , Tottenham and Liverpool plus MU on TV , i never miss them .
Alan Hansen has to be my idol , cool , compose , in control , always safe . Once i remember he actually teased Mark Hughes inside our own penalty box . Yes One-on-One , Mark Hughes still can't get the ball from him .
Mark Lawrenson was very solid , follow by Gary Gillespie , Torben Pichnik , Glenn Hysen , Phil Thompson has retired then .
Our full back Jim Beglin was one of the best full back then .... Sammy Lee our work horse in the team .
Then came Barry Venison from Sunderland , another not quite popular figure in English Div One . But he was Sunderland captain that time .
Our midfield was the best in the business .
Ronnie Whelan , Mcmahon , Beardsley , Houghton , Souness , Dalglish .
And forward we have Paul Walsh , Ian Rush , Barnes .
Of course we have funny signings , one chap from Chelsea , David Speedie .
Michael Robinson from Brighton also another funny signing , dunno for what ?
Then came one player from Transmere Rovers , to replace Ian Rush , when he signed for Juventus , he has got a moustache like rush , looked like Rush , his name is John Aldridge , another fella score for fun .
So do i looked like one getting those stuff from www ????
