CHELSEA midfielder Florent Malouda was delighted with the way his side bounced back from their Champions League disappointment with a 4-1 victory at Arsenal.
Guus Hiddink’s side crashed out to Barcelona’s last-gasp goal in the semi-final second leg at Stamford Bridge in midweek but responded with an impressive performance.
"We knew that it would be difficult to start again but I think we did it very well this afternoon and we are very happy with the result because to win here at the Emirates like we did is very good," said Malouda, who scored the fourth goal of the rout.
"We knew we had to control the game when we were 2-0 up and that if we conceded any goals they could come back. We tried to keep the ball and make them run and we knew we would have other opportunities."
The Frenchman added that Chelsea are focused on securing second place in the Premier League this season.
They are three points behind Liverpool with two games to go and Malouda added: "Until the end of the season we are focused on trying to be runners-up.
"We know it’ll be difficult because Liverpool are playing very well. There are two games to go now and we have to play them for our fans." because they were disappointed too (with the Champions League result) and we’ll try and do it for them."
Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink also praised his team, who secured a top-three spot with the win.
"I was very proud of the reaction of the team.
"Everyone knows after Wednesday that it’s very difficult to make it happen. I think the team reacted perfectly," he said.
except for the first 15 minutes. It shows that this team is one of strongest in Europe.
"There’s a big gap between us and (fourth-placed) Arsenal but we keep on going in the two games coming up."
not often Chelsea players voice their concern over Liverpool FC .
Hmm .... suddenly we are a threat to them ?
nice seeing a "top" team respected us .
They have their motivation ( aiming at 2nd placing ) , we have our very own motivation too ( title ) ... so it will quite tough for them , 2 more games , 3 points apart .
Good luckto Malouda .
They better do ... it need a special team to beat us next season .

Yes, Chelsea for 2nd place. But Liverpool 1st place. And Man United 3rd place. Mathematically still possible so dont cry when that happens.
