Daniel Agger today spoke of his delight after agreeing a new four year deal to remain at Anfield. | |
The classy Danish defender agreed the contract over the weekend and then helped the Reds keep a clean sheet in an impressive 3-0 victory over Newcastle United. With his future having been the subject of speculation for many months, Agger admits he's thrilled to be committing his future to the club. "We are close now and of course I would be happy to stay at Liverpool because it is what I've been working for for the last few years," he said. "It's important as a player to have the faith of your manager because if you don't have that then you're probably not at the right club." Agger, meanwhile, was pleased with the Reds' rout of Newcastle on Sunday - but believes their performance should have been rewarded with even more goals. "I think our performances have been good of late and we know that all we can do now is win our own games, we can't do any more than that. "We were a bit unlucky not to score more than we did and I think we could have done with getting more because you never know how the season will end and goal difference could still be important. "The other positive was that we kept a clean sheet because we have conceded too many goals by our own standards in the last few games." |
Liverpool have confirmed Sami Hyypia will be joining Bayer Leverkusen on a Bosman in the summer.
A report on the official Liverpool website read: "Hyypia underwent a medical with the German outfit this morning and will link up with his new team-mates in the summer for the start of pre-season training.
"The Finnish international has earned legendary status at Anfield for the part he has played in the club's many successes over the past decade - and he will leave Merseyside with the best wishes of every Liverpool supporter."
TRIBUTE TO SAMMI HYYPIA.
Liverpool had confirmed that Hyypia will be joining Bayer
Leverkusen on a two-year deal in the summer, but his contribution
to the Reds' success over the last ten years will ensure he forever
holds a special place in the heart of every Kopite.
Good luck Sami. A true Anfield legend.
The new boy looks decent...
A toast to the first of many trophies!
The Owen Cup final - 'my' finest display
Treble glory
Last-gasp glory v Wolves - a Sami favourite
It's just a friendly against Man United isn't it?
A perfect start against Juventus
Sami dares to dream...
The dream becomes reality
Sami Hyypia - Kop legend
Hyypia go out with his head held high !!
He is already a Legend for us .
We had quite a number of legends in the centre of defense , namely Alan Hansen , Mark Lawrenson etc .. but he certainly right up there .
He won the UEFA Cup , UCL , FA Cup etc ..... certainly no regrets for him .
I am sad there wasn't a testimony for him .
10 year without a testimonial match ??
I hope LFC can arrange one for him .
GoodBye My Fren Goodbye
if i am Hyypia , having excel myself both in Holland ( Willem II ) and England ( L'pool ) , i wouldn't say no to Germany .
At my age , the opportunity of a 2 year contract don't come very often .
it will be my last 2 year in football .
But i wouldn't pin too much hope on playing 30 matches one season .
Probably the best skinny in the world
i like his headers. powerful
i always thought , when he's playing , i felt ..... our defense is safer with him around .
Unlike Skrtel ... not that Skrtel is no good , just that , i just don't have the safe mentallity from Skrtel .
Like what i said to my bro : " KNN la , XXX team won't score any goals from crosses into L'pool's penalty box , Hyyia simply dominates inside ."
I won't give the sort of comments of Skrtel to my bro .
Not often when Hyypia played , we concedes goals from set-pieces or corner .
