Rafa Benitez: Set to turn to Kop legend.
Dalglish, 58, who is widely regarded as the club's greatest-ever player, will have an advisory function with an emphasis on developing young players, according to reports.
The Scot, who managed the club from 1985-1991, would not be involved in coaching the first team but would make his vast experience available to Benitez.
Although the club have made no official announcement, a statement is expected before the end of the season.
Benitez, who recently signed a new long-term deal to remain at Anfield until 2014, is eager to improve the youth structure at Liverpool's Academy, which he has long complained about, and Dalglish is keen to be involved, according to well-placed sources.
Dalglish won six League titles with Liverpool, leading them to the FA Cup and League double in 1986 as well as three European Cups.
He was manager of the club when the Hillsborough disaster occurred in 1989 and is still revered by fans, who often refer to him as "King Kenny."
Sad to see him go , and glad he's back .
One of my all-time favourite .
During the late 80's and early 90's , he brought in the likes of Steven Mcmahon , Ray Houghton , Peter Beardsley , John Barnes , Paul walsh and Craig Johnston , that caused the English dominance .
He left , Souness came , and Souness screwed up Liverpool . hahahahaha , that's what people said .
Good he return .
it's prolly a PR move....good to have an iconic figure back!
juz hope they get along for the good of the club!
See in Liverpool FC's hierachy , if u not aware , LFC never sacked Managers !!!!
I thought he was sacked !
But LFC let him go nicely .... something like mutual agreement or stuff like that , to camouflage his sacking .
So i would not say he is a quitter .
If he is a quitter , he would not have make a comeback .
he comeback , i thought ... there is unfinish job for him to accomplish .
The main reason i guessed , is that he probably ask for something for the 96 victims of Hillsboro .
He didn't get what he wanted .
not sure wat role he'll play....
n can he work with Rafa....2 tigers in the same mtn?!
anyway, i only wish for the best!!!
aside: kenny "quitted" and not sacked lah....but he "regretted" after 2 weeks. when he returned to football, he won the EPL for blackburn! he cld've done so for the reds, but noone read his mind enuff to ask him back!
hope he can bring confidence to the players
