Pepe Reina is in line to make his 200th Liverpool appearance against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday. | ||
Since making his Reds debut in a Champions League qualifier with TNS in July 2005, the Spanish international has broken numerous Anfield records. In his first season with Rafa Benitez's side, Reina set a new club record for most consecutive clean sheets as he went 11 matches without conceding a goal. The 26-year-old is also the fastest stopper in Reds history to reach 50 shut-outs in the league. Last month he became the quickest custodian in the club's history to achieve 100 clean sheets in all competitions, beating Ray Clemence's record that had stood for three decades. Reina achieved the landmark in just 197 appearances, while Clemence reached his century from 200 run outs. In addition, the Liverpool number 25 has held the Barclays 'Golden Gloves' award for the past three seasons and, by taking to the field in the Champions League clash with Chelsea last Wednesday, Reina became the first Reds 'keeper to appear in 50 European Cup games. |
