  Liverpool v Sunderland (2000 GMT)

  Liverpool have had a strange old week - they enjoyed a top result in Madrid, followed by a strange team selection against Middlesbrough that ended in defeat.

  Sunderland, on the other hand, have effectively had a winter break having just had the weekend off and they have looked a settled unit under Ricky Sbragia, who I think is doing well.

  Still, I suspect the Black Cats might just be victims to a backlash from Liverpool - it's the wrong time to play them, I think, and at Anfield you have to fancy the Reds.

  Verdict: 2-0
