Ian Rush writes.... (n i can't agree more!)
Sami Hyypia has been a tremendous servant to Liverpool and he’s got to be up there with the best signings the club has ever made,
The big Finn is nearing 10 years at Anfield in which he has played over 450 games.
It’s hard to believe he cost only £2.5million from Dutch club Willem II.
He might be 35 but he proved again at Blackburn on Saturday that he’s still capable of playing at the highest level.
It’s been nice to see him get a chance in recent weeks and he’s been excellent.
It’s funny how things work out because if Martin Skrtel had stayed fit then Sami probably wouldn’t be playing and possibly looking to move on in January.
As it is the defender has shown he’s still a valuable member of the squad and he is a great example for the Reds’ other fringe players.
i would like to see if hyppia would fit into defensive midfield to form the tip of the centre defensive triangle.
i rate him above lucas anytime
Hyypia in midfield role ?
Maybe for S-league .
He too slow la ..... Cannot la ..
He's the type , stay inside the box , and do a job for set-pieces offensively or defensively .
hamann is not fast also
in defensive midfield u need someone with experience and positional sense.
somemore he can head the ball.
someone with good head/header is better used in the penalty box
his pace is a problem at times, but he sure made it up with his experience (mostly) :D
a reliable backup!
by god's grace if liverpool were to win this year's epl, it will be a fitting end to hyypia's liverpool career. he requested a year's extension to his contract becos he wants one last crack at getting a epl champion's medal. and liverpool was kind enuf to grant that extension. that alone is proof of the recognition the club has for him.
i agree he is a great servant to liverpool fc.
he had been fantastic.

yes, in the box definitely
but like i said, i rate him above lucas.
i rather have hyppia play defensive midfield than lucas due to his experience.
i go one step further.
i would play hyypia as striker anytime.
two seasons ago, he showed the strikers how to end a goal drought by finishing ... err.. like a striker.
and his heading is superb, plus he always know how to take a ball away from the opponents with ease without doing all those sliding tackle.
the whole of the current liverpool team has no one with any heading prowess except hyppia...
agger is tall but he isn't much of a threat.
they are lacking someone in the penalty box during corners, like john terry
hyypia deserves to have a testimonial match...
its a pity that he was asked to give up his captaincy because of gerrard.
yet, he chose to stay.

Hamann is faster .... i remember once we lost to Man Utd at home , with 2 goals from RVN i think , the both goals were scored via Hyypia's route , RVN out-sprint Hyypia to score .
i have only respect and well-wishes for our unsunk hero - easily our best "buy" of the last decade!
well, let's hope all our well wishes to him will be realised this season => a 10-yr testimonial match + a Premier League winners' medal (to complete his collection) :D
salute hyypia
My favourite player - Hyppia!
At Least Hyypia better than Gallas lor at least Hyypia header acc 70%
