Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is confident the signing of Espanyol midfielder
Albert Riera will finally be completed on the last day of the current transfer window.
Riera is expected to tie up a move to Anfield today for a fee believed to be in the region of £8million.
And Benitez is also anticipating that Xabi Alonso will remain a Liverpool player.
But his joy may be tempered if the news regarding Fernando Torres’s hamstring injury is not encouraging.The Spanish star pulled up suddenly during the first half of the Reds’ goalless draw at
Aston Villa yesterday and will undergo a scan today to determine the extent of the damage.
Benitez said: ”The deal for Riera is nearly done. We are waiting and hopefully it will be done.
”I have confidence that it will. It can improve us and give us a bit of balance. It is nearly done. We are in contact with Espanyol.” (ESPN)

If he's tat good , why Man City dun sign him permanently /
well , i guessed it's just another flop signing from Benitez .
Rafa signed a few bad ones ..namely Antonio Nunez , Marky Gonzales , if i can remember this 2 .
Chinese always say : Good one not cheap ! Cheap one no good .
Got that meaning ?

if no david silva, at least quaresma lah, cheaper than keane somemore. inter milan got him during the last day of transfer window for 18.3m.

I have seen a few clips of This Riera.
He aint very impressive.
Tries to be fanciful at time,not very good at crossing..
Benitez is really taking a big gamble.

That is why Ah Ben is chasing so hard for Barry.
He need to satisfy the player requirement.
Now, he have registered quite a lot of unexperienced players for CL.
Dun expect further advancement into the last four for Liverpool this season.
They have to rely on ONE player to score goal.
Maybe they will be desperate to get the mickey mouse back to the Kop at Jan 09.

Why cannot just anyhow whack 1 cheap english player like Defoe?
