I remember having a pomegranate plant and I'd pluck the fruits to eat. And papaya too... -
nah.. not much.. used to have a chiku tree in the backyard and a custard apple tree in the front yard.. but both gone
custard apple tree died.. chiku tree had to be chopped up coz roots tearing up neighbour's yard (and ours too)
now only got that... and a jambu plant

Oooh there's a LONGAN tree in the Sun Yat Sen mansion! And my neighbors have taken a liking to growing sugar canes. I've got one neighbor who has a garden full of herbs and vegetables. Her mint leaves are beautiful... -
i tried planting ginger, sweet potatoes, aloe vera and garlic.
all died except aloe vera. the 3 died because the grass-cutter cut them stems and leaves off when he was cutting the grass despite telling him to watch out for it...
aloe vera died because of poor soil or something -

should grow pandan leaves... and lime. very handy to have at home -
very sad about the chiku tree coz after 14 years, i only ate about 1 1/2 fruit from it... relatives always come and "harvest" the stuff
the custard apple was a strange breed one... the "skin" was smooth instead of looking like scale... and the birds usually get to it first
bis, should plant them in pots in your compound instead
tried growing coriander, but the stray cats kept eating it serious!
other things grown are leperous lime (or limau perut) and used to grow laksa leaves -

I love the peach one... but they all died. And now that portion of land in front of my home is all concrete. 
Used to have a bauhinia tree there... and there'd be bee hives and parrots would come and hide there... -
