Thinking of seeking dating agency

In my previous post, I saw some people arguing whether older guy should date a younger lady. Well I don't want to touch on that issue as this is entirely different topic.
For those that don't know me, let me give some background. I am typically a shy and introverted guy. I am ok with talking to the opposite sex. However they don't give me a lot of opportunities to talk to them. I don't normally approach them unless they come over to talk to me. I also do not like to be the "talk" of everyone if they think I am pursuing somebody. So I prefer a more conspicious way of meeting a lady.
I got an idea from one of the forumers suggested dating agency and for this, I am thinking of seeking the services of a dating agency. However, I got some concerns. Here is the list:
1) Has anyone gone thru dating agency? Please share your experience. Any bad experiences? Successful ones?
2) What are the charges like? Is it expensive?
3) Some friends have warn me that some dating agencies are con jobs
4) While some dating agencies do conduct background checks, do they also do medical checks like for Hepatitis or HIV ?
5) Is it easier to get to know a lady better thru dating agency as you don't have to go thru hassle of pursuing her?
6) Are there any trusted and reputable dating agencies around? Please state the name
7) How many dates it takes before you meet the ONE. And she also confirms you as the ONE

Ok, I'll spend some time answering your questions. I had been to a dating agency a few months ago.
1) I had been introduced to so far 6 ladies. 5 are China gals, and 1 Singaporean gal. Its not bad experience, but some are quieter and some are more cheerful. I don't consider it success unless one of them becomes my gf.
2) The one I had joined cost $888. Plus $25 for every girl they set you up with.
3)This one doesn't look like a con job, unless the girls are 'employed' to befriend you. But so far, I think the girls are quite genuine in looking for marriage partners.
4)This one that i join doesn't do medical checkups. But the other one I joined which is a MARRIAGE agency does checkups on the foreign girls who are here for a month to marry a local dude.
5) Getting to know a gal from dating agent doesn't mean less hassle. After the inital introduction, it still all depends on you to woo and win the girl's heart. The agent's job is just to help you look for a more suitable partner, the rest is up to you.
6)I cannot state the name here. But if you want, let me have your contact, I'll recommend to you. Afterall, I get 2 free introductions for each successful referrals, hehe...
7)I don't know. It still depends on fate. I met 6 so far, and because I dislike chasing girls and calling them, I never do much follow ups.

Why didn't you try visit government 's Social Development Network to look for your "date" and even widen your social circle ? It is the best resources for you and even offered informative ideas for dates with fun activities and events ! I think only Eteract is your answer. I also heard that another "accredited" Singapore dating agency governed by the Ministry of Community, Youth & Sports of Singapore had another branch in Malaysia as well with their members in dating agency. Their company name are called "Dating Moments" : http://www.datingmoments.comAnyway, didn't your country have any government bodies or ministries that help to promote marriage among single or providing "dating" resources ? Maybe if Malaysia had an "Meet My Member of Parliament" session, you should highlight this idea to them.

There is this MCA cupid club. But I really don't prefer to go to a party where I have to compete with the guys for the best girls.
No, my country don't do this. The Malay birth rates are much higher - they marry at 18 years old. Only the chinese and indians are disentigrating because we are not getting married at all.

In the past, social network website like the friendster (which is now a game site) is popular as well as MySpace : http://www.myspace.com because it connect you to the international community especially for those who are either want to make friend or for other like dating locally or international.Now it is quite sad that majority of people choose Facebook due to the current "fashion" trend although it is nothing more of an tin-can business-related social site with security loophole and privacy leak.
Still at least local dating agencies are "accredited" with affordable price and maybe widen social circle with "right" people without jump into an relationship like a flash. Still I do hope that the social network website can be more open so that we can make friends international easily instead of the "ancient" close closet way of writing to pen-pal a letter and you didn't know who they are !
