WITH the merger of the Social Development Unit (SDU) and Social Development Service (SDS) into the Social Development Network (SDN) and the privatisation of events to accredited agencies, I am wondering if it is an initiative to encourage singles to get hitched or to deter them?
As a single, I was daunted by the high fees charged by the accredited agencies as compared to the reasonable prices before.
It seems to me that the regulation of prices and service levels need to be relooked or tightened.
An event can easily cost $40, be it a movie date, dinner or high tea. Not many can afford to spend that much, especially those with low income looking for a soul mate. Why aren't prices subsidised to boost the marriage rate?

thats right....dating agencies are recruiting so called "professionals"...this reflects the truth about the rising expectations of women....its not about love per se....but security...and in particular financial security....thats the first pre-requisite even before meeting...
money comes first, talk about personality later....and then endless variables to ascertain Mr Perfect or near 100%...
as the saying goes...it takes only 3 months for a gal to look pretty via plastic surgery etc. than a lifetime to build a fortune for man .....
