A case of mismatch?

Last saturday I went out with my friends from my Junior College. Some of the girls brought their boyfriends along. Most of the boyfriends were undergraduates, just like those girls. However, there was one exception...
One of the girl's boyfriend isnt an undergraduate. He's a diploma holder and is currently working as a computer technicians in a school. The guy's hair is dyed in golden colour and he's a smoker....
To me, this is perfectly all right. My men during my NS time were all ah beng smokers. I must say that some of these ah bengs are nice people. A number of them turned out to be like this due to family circumstances...
However,for my ladies classmates, due to the lack of exposure to people of different social strata, they concluded that the guy was not suitable for my cassmate.
I was shocked by their views.. (maybe NS has changed my perception of certain stuffs?).. Wat about the rest of you guys? Do you all agree that it's a case of mismatch as mentioned by the other girls?

U mean those ppl judged him only based on his looks without taking his character/personality into account? Or does he have other undesirable traits?

hmm.. i dont mean to stereotype. In fact I disagree with what my frens did... The reason being that they were so sheltered that they don't meet people who are different from them and that's y they are so stereotypical..I just wana to post here to get the views of others..
But i am glad from the replies i got so far la.. seems like most ladies not as shallow as my friends...

Cannot say is shallow...some gals have keen intuitions...so maybe the guy was giving off bad vibes....
Also...these gals probably just want the best for your fren...you shldn't judge them just based on what they have said

Some females instinctively know which guys are assholes just by the way they behave and talk...there is too little info provided so we cannot say if your frens were wrong in their judgement of the guy, or if they were spot on.
Only time will tell, besides...your female fren shld take precautions anyway...after all one can never be too cautious especially when it involves matters of the heart...Especially when 99% of the male population are assholes

don't judge a book by its cover...their education levels don't match though..there's bound to be problem in the future due to their education level mismatch instead of his appearance.
You can change your appearance as long as you have money but you can't change your education level unless you pursue it..of course, being wealthy is better than having an education

I am also a diploma holder and my gf has a degree.
So wat if the guy is a diploma holder? Does it means diploma holder dun deserve to love someone?The most impt thing is the gal does not mind the guy having lower education level than her.
Anyway as long as the guy is loving and has a decent job, this superficial thing should not be judged against him.

end of day, whatever paper u have, is just an entrance to a job la.
whatever knowledge one acquire outside of school is up to each. for example, someone may be very interested in photography, and acquire a lot of knowledge..
however, it is undeniable to react the way, it is only human.
the key is how the gal feels, if she is comfortable, then heck care lor.
