Hi does anyone have experience of working while studying in poly?I am currently in 1st year poly (Just started) and I intend to work 2 day per week however I am afraid that I cant cope both study and work at the same time. I am aiming for gpa 3.5+ and would like to ask is it tough in 1st year poly? In my opinion right now poly is quite slack only have to attend 3~6 hour a day depending on which day so even If I work for 2 day I still have quite alot of time left. But I am only on my 2nd week of poly so can anyone with experience on this give me some advice.
i tried doing that last time but cannot keep up.. sometimes late for class etc lol so i quit after 2 months.
if you have good time management can try how it goes.. the most quit only loh haha

There are lots of online jobs out there. just need to be resourceful and you'll definitely get one that is not a scam. speaking from experience. :)
if need be, you may want to consider taking a study loan, or a bank loan, from a Bank (DBS, POSB, OCBC, Bank of Singapore, etc...). Take into consideration the interest rates also.
after you graduate from univeristy, slowly pay back the money to the bank.
at least it's something.
eh... just wondering, does SGforums have part-time career opportunities or internship opportunities (for polytechnic students)?
u want intern as what?
moderator?
Things become different once you leave secondary school. Most of the learning does not take place in school. They only teach you the bare minimium when you attend those short hours. The rest, you are expected to study, research, revise on your own, after all, you are slightly grown up and no need to be spoon fed.
This is the time where some people cannot adapt, still thinking that the school will take care of them.
But still, the curriculum shouldnt be so hard that you need to study 24/7. Working on the weekends is still fine.
Need to do it during Jun and Dec.
Start looking immediately after exams.
tts when everyone else also looking
.
Why don't you try working one day/week first and see how well you cope.
money no enough
I know ppl who managed to juggle between studies and poly life. And they got cca as well. I think it depends on the course you take and time management ba
Try not to unless you think you can cope well.
Also, advise to you is not to spend time on CCA that require a lot of committments.
As I understand from a few that some CCA requires a lot of time burnt especially during weekdays night as well as weekend.
CCAs are an utter vile waste of time.
If you are good in certain subjects, can consider giving tuition.
You can try part-timing at some service intensive places like Starbucks, the hours are more flexible!
a lot of poly students work part time nowadays
If you have enough self-discipline, working and studying is possible. I have friends whom can do both and contribute substantially to group work. I also know of those whom take on a job and find they have too much on their plate - the smart ones quit said job while others, "persevere" at their job while but at the expense of their school work. It'll really depend then on where your priorities lie.
