watever it is i think it is not acceptable tt gas supply disruptions in indonesia can cause such serious blackouts in singapore. well. does it mean everytime the gas supply gets disrupted there we will be hit? and in that case how reliable is our power supply gonna be? wat happens to industries tt run overnight? and refrigeration and stuff? hospitals? critical ops?
are we going to be at the mercy of something so far away its beyond our control? wat if the gas supply takes hours to come back? wat if the ppl at the gas supplies are incompetent? better leave things in our own hands right?
this is causing concern man.. .

SINGAPORE : Blackouts hit many parts of Singapore on Tuesday night after a disruption in the supply of natural gas from Indonesia.
The areas affected included city areas such as River Valley and Havelock; the northeast part of the island covering Hougang and Serangoon Central; as well as western areas like Boon Lay and Holland Village.
The electricity supply was disrupted at about 10 pm.
Authorities say power has since been restored to all affected areas.
The areas hit by the blackout included parts of Bishan, Choa Chua Kang, Paya Lebar, Clementi, Woodlands, Bukit Batok, Crawford, Jurong, Mandai, Sengkang, and Aljunied.
The SCDF has received more than a dozen calls about people trapped in lifts and fire engines have been dispatched to parts of the island to rescue these people.
Mobile phone networks were also affected, because many people were calling and messaging each other about the blackout.

SINGAPORE: 11 blocks of flats at Pasir Ris were hit by a 30-minute power failure on Friday.
The latest blackout was relatively minor compared to Tuesday's power failure that hit 300,000 homes around Singapore.
Authorities said the Pasir Ris blackout was caused by a trip at the Pasir Ris substation.
Most affected residents at Pasir Ris Street 52 simply went outdoors during the blackout.
They weren't too surprised after Tuesday's blackout that lasted up to two hours in some areas.
There were some 200 children in a pre-school during the blackout.
But a staff explained that as they had had power failures before, the children weren't frightened.
