Hospitality and Hotel Management

  Hey guys, recently, I got accepted to Hospitality and Hotel Management in Republic Polytechnic and I was wondering should I accept it?

  I've seen the career aspects stated on their website

  • Concierge Services Executive/Manager
  • Customer Service Officer/Executive/Manager
  • Food and Beverage Executive/Manager
  • Guest Relations Executive / Manager

   

  Are these jobs good? How much do they make a month or maybe a year?

  Other than these jobs mentioned above, are there any other jobs that are available for me if I were to take on this course?

  tourism industry will be still in boom when u grad

  there are other sectors like F&B and retail, even night life (though ours like quite dead) that can use the skills and knowledge

  I don't mind serving people as long as it make them happy inside. Meeting people is a plus in my opinion. Well, I don't really have passion for this but I like to work in a hotel as it seems fun.

  What do you mean by shift works?

  Ok good. You will know about the job scopes when you go for ojt or internship with any of the hotels in Singapore. You probably have to work on 3 shifts or sometimes 2 shifts. 3 shifts means 7am-3pm or 3pm-11pm or 11pm-7am, 8 hrs per day.

  Good. I wish you all the best and I hope you enjoy working in the hotel line. No but I have many good close friends working in the hotel industry before.

  General Manager, Front Desk, Waiter/Waitress, Room Attendant.

  The GM, a degree holder. The Front Desk, 'A' Level. The Waiter/Waitress/Room Attendant...'O' Level. The GM still in hotel line...the rest left. After marriage they want to spend more time with their family...one of them the waiter now in IT as computer programmer. The waitress and room attendant in other career.

  Do you mind explaining the shift thing again? I know that I'll be required to work for 8 hours a day.

  But is it a 5 day work week or SOMETIMES I'd have to work on the weekend?

  It depends on the hotel policy...some 5 days but off days not always on weekends. Some 6 days...one day off.

  Base on the above positions that you have mentioned, you have to hunt for it...but hardly unless you work in the admin.

  Diploma holder currently for a start....at least $1800 some smaller hotels lower than that it depends...of course with experience will be more....in the future after you graduate should be more than now.

  Travel, Retail, Sales/Marketing, Admin etc HR, Co-Ordinator,....all more to service industry and in the Health Industry...more to customer service.

  You have to see what you really want to do and be creative in looking for the right job for yourself in the future...I have to go now.
