Anyway why bother to challenge, all the other polys in Singapore are gradually turning to PBL le, my friend in NP doing that too, discussion, brainstorm a solution and present to class, needless to say, she dun like it abit but that is how it works in modern working society in which u face challenges everday, PBL teach u to think critcally instead of good ol' "follow the books" way.
Frankly, even as a 3rd year student, I don't necessary agree with their ways. Some things simply can't be taught via PBL.
Science and PBL? WTH? Science needs to be understood, not via memorization. Everybody can do it.
It simulates modern society, no doubt, and I like it very much. But some things are never meant to be in a particular way.
Also, is presentation really a good way to show what you've learnt? I can throw a hell lot of garbage out without problems, it looks like I learnt. In actual fact, I don't.
PBL weakness is the emphasis on process and not the end product. The process is whereby you really learn something and benefit from it. The conventional method, on the other hand, emphasizes on the end product, because that would really show how much you've learnt.
