STOMPer Alan’s
grandmother is dying of liver cancer and her dying wish is that that
she be reunited with the daughter she gave away 43 years ago.
In an email to STOMP, the STOMPer recounted how his family has been desperately seeking his aunt.
“Grandmother is terminally ill and the family have sought to reunite with her for some time.
“This is even more urgent, now that she is seriously ill and this is her final wish.”
According
to newspaper reports, Alan’s grandmother had to give away the daughter
she called ‘Ah Muey’ 43 years ago, when she was just two years old.
The girl was named Goh Eng Muey and Alan’s grandmother gave her away in 1967 because the family had financial problems.
Alan’s grandmother and father had 14 children and ‘Ah Muey’ was the eighth child and the sixth daughter.
She
was given away on the condition that she kept in contact with her birth
parents, but her adopted parents did not want the girl to meet them.
They later lost touch with the family.
Anyone with any information regarding the woman can email STOMP at stomp@stomp.com.sg.
